This creamy golden banana milkshake features fresh figs and lots of anti-inflammatory spices for a healthy breakfast or afternoon snack.
I often have periods during which I become obsessed with a particular food or dish. It’s kind of the same with music. These days, it’s this golden banana milkshake that’s the object of my obsession. And I listen to the album Coastline by Geoffroy, a singer from Québec that my cousin made me discover. And I don’t expect to get bored of either anytime soon.
It’s not secret that I love to include turmeric and different spices in my daily diet, for their taste of course, but also for all their health benefits. I came up with this recipe on a day where I wasn’t feeling like having a big heavy meal and the nicely spotted bananas caught my attention.
I knew that by pairing them with the organic and fair traide spices Cha’s Organics, a Montreal-based company, kindly sent me last summer, I would obtain the perfect golden milkshake. *(this post is not sponsored :)
The recipe is as simple as blitzing bananas, plant milk and heart-warming spices in the blender. That’s it. I like to use one ripe banana and one frozen banana for the perfect consistency. However you could also use two frozen bananas or 2 ripe bananas and a handful of ice cubes.
I also personally always add hemp seeds for a healthy dose of protein and omega 3 and a Brazil nut for the selenium it contains. These two ingredients will also add a nice creamy touch to your vegan milkshake. If you prefer, you could also use a generous spoonful of oats.
And since fig season is in full blast, and for a very limited time unfortunately, I like to add some. And wow, their flavour combines so well with the bananas and spices. I highly recommend it!
If you feel like taking it to the next level, you could even pair it with a coconut chia pudding and top your breakfast parfait with some berries for the perfect nutritious on-the-go breakfast.

Golden banana milkshake
Ingredients
- 1 banana ripe
- 1 banana frozen
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 cup plant milk
Optional
- 2 figs
- 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
- 1 Brazil nut
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to the bowl of your blender and process until smooth, around 1 minute.
- Divide into 2 glasses and enjoy cold.
Notes
**You can also use fresh turmeric and ginger
